The performance of any fan is most dependent on the impellor within the fan. SDS Ausmincoís range of secondary fans all utilise the German designed Korfmann impellor.

The Korfmann impellor has been in continuous service in thousands of applications world wide for over 30 years. The proven strength, reliability and super high efficiency of the one piece cast aluminium alloy impellor ensures the Korfmann impellor is a step above the rest.

There are two types of impellors available from Korfmann including:

Fixed bladed, for:

• Secondary fans both single and dual stage, co-rotating and contra-rotating

• Larger applications such as the AL(N) fans.

Many unobserved design features excel in the Korfmann fixed bladed impellor, including:

• One piece casting improving strength,
• consistency of cast flow,
• repetitiveness in casts, and
• quality of manufacture.
• Removes the requirement for impellor tip machining (reducing the addition of undue stresses to the casting).
• Ensures no sharp corners or edges limiting surfaces prone to build up of foreign matter.
• Allows easy cleaning of impellor.
• Ensures greater dimensional tolerance and consistency.
• Ensures greater internal mass distribution reducing imbalance.
• Cast in steel hub, ensuring accurate alignment and positive locking for the life of the fan.
• Airfoil profiled blades ensuring maximum possible fan efficiency.
• High strength Silium (aluminium alloy) compound with optimum weight to strength and wear resistance ratios.
• Recessed hub lip allowing easy additions of anti wear plates.
• Tapped extracting lugs for easy impellor removal.

The variable bladed impellor allows the fanís duty window to be changed as the mine progresses and air volume and pressure requirements change. The split hub design ensures the blade angles can be easily changed from either side of the impellor with minimum tooling and downtime and no measuring tools, as the blade positions are marked on the hub and blade for easy adjustment.

All impellors are supplied fully certified and are dynamically balanced.
